When they were young
I got christmas eve, and he had christmas day. And they still follow that tradition as adults

We have always done that too, Christmas
Eve at my mom's and Christmas day with my ex's family. When my ex and I were still together, the 3 of us used to spend Christmas Eve night at my son's grandpa's house. Of course me ex ALWAYS went out lol. I am a part of my ex's family and we all get along, so it's easy to keep this tradition going

The STBX and I both work for companies
that have an extensive shutdown period at the end of the year (~6-10 work days). His family traditionally celebrates Xmas on Xmas eve and mine on Xmas day, so I had offered to split in that manner (with O/N alternating), but he wants to make use of the shutdown days to take DS to visit his family in south america so he doesn't have to use his vacation days to visit family. He doesn't even care about Christmas. (To illustrate, this year he's going skiing and told me I can "have" DS

Christmas has always been a big deal
With my family. It was never a big deal to my ex or his family. It is specifiy written that I get our daughter every Christmas week including Christmas Eve. I was willing to give a lot up but that wasn't even negotiable. It sucks for people that have to give their kids up on Christmas. That would be so hard

It is good that he gave in
Otherwise you would have been forced to split it like others

Do you really not have that much control in your
own life that you really think every woman is controlling? Is there nothing you control about your own life or your children life that you wouldn't compromise

Is that just coming to you?
I am a total control freak over every aspect of my life. Fortunately for those IN my life, I am fair and reasonable so it doesn't seem to be a big deal
