So, a friend of ours had an accident months ago. He is now a quadriplegic. Therapy is going great and he has been making great strides. However, the couple he had as live-in caregivers now need to leave. My husband and I are going up to to stay with him for a few weeks until we can find him the right live in caregivers. He has been doing great with the fighting depression thing and so we are hoping that by helping out there for a bit we can buy him more time to find people that suit him for the term. Has anyone here had any experience with: 1) Quadriplegic care anything specific I should be aware of? Resources for answers? I'm finding very little on e. 2) Hiring a live in caregiver anywhere specific we should be looking? I know that IHSS compensates his caregiver with 2, per month and he supplies room and board. Is that decent for this type of work? He wants a couple because care is intermittent over a 24 hour day and felt that a couple might be able to relive each other when one is tired. Any comments, suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
